Reading council lettings sign ban 'being ignored'

A voluntary ban on "to let" signs in parts of Reading has failed to reduce their numbers, the council has said.

Reading Borough Council brought in the measures in east Reading earlier this year amid residents' concerns over the high number of signs.

Agents agreed not to erect them under a pilot scheme, but the authority said the ban was now being ignored.

The council said it would now consider applying to the government to allow it to ban the signs.
