Ladies Day at Royal Ascot has come around again - the third day of the world-famous racing event that is perhaps better known for its hats than its horses.

It has long been one of the biggest events in the British fashion calendar and is treated as an opportunity for thousands of women to sport hats ranging from the sublime to the, frankly, ridiculous.
