Ladies Day at Royal Ascot has come around again - the third day of the world-famous racing event that is perhaps better known for its hats than its horses.
It has long been one of the biggest events in the British fashion calendar and is treated as an opportunity for thousands of women to sport hats ranging from the sublime to the, frankly, ridiculous.
BBC News takes a look at some of the more outlandish headgear designed to make headlines.

Let's just say we're potty about these hats

The glasses say hippie chic, the hat says flower power

This lady sacrificed a comfy racing day to hold up her colourful rainforest hat with her hands

Great hat, but how does she use her phone?

Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice opted for a more toned down style of millinery

We're taking a gamble this was quite a heavy hat to wear

A true English rose

Make sure this hat doesn't fly off in the wind

This hat has certainly netted its wearer a lot of admiration

In a sea of grey and dark suits, dare to flaunt the colours of a peacock

We want to take a leaf out of her book and grab ourselves an equally extravagant hat!
