Residents of Colemans Moor Road in Woodley objected to having double yellow lines

Two roads have had plans for new double yellow lines scrapped after residents objected.

Wokingham Borough Council considered new restrictions on about 60 roads after receiving requests from residents and councillors.

Plans were dropped for two streets when residents said it would encourage speeding and make life harder for people without driveways.

The council said it would "reconsider options".

Council officers have dropped plans for double yellow lines on Colemansmoor Road in Woodley after receiving 22 objections.

They also decided to install single yellow lines on a section of London Road in Bulmershe and Whitegates rather than double yellow lines.

Residents of Colemansmoor Road said they thought the double yellow lines would only push parking further down the road - and make parking harder for those living in maisonettes with no driveways.

One resident said: "Cars often speed down this road and along Bader Way.

"Introducing double yellow lines would clear the road and encourage more of this dangerous behaviour."
