Police said the 39-year-old man was stopped on Tuesday night

A man has been arrested on suspicion of trespassing at Windsor Castle.

The Metropolitan Police said the 39-year-old was stopped by officers at about 22:20 GMT on Tuesday.

A police spokesperson said the man was taken into custody before being detained under the Mental Health Act.

Buckingham Palace has not commented on the incident, which is not the first trespassing event at the royal residence in recent years.

Daniel Brydges, 33, was handed a suspended prison sentence after scaling two fences in December 2021.

Jaswant Singh Chail, 21, arrived with a crossbow on Christmas Day 2021, and was sentenced to nine years for treason.
