Identical Birmingham twins get 11 A* at GCSE

Alexandra and Rebecca Morton found out their results after returning from an expedition to the Galapagos Islands

Identical twins from Birmingham have achieved indentical 11 A* grades in their GCSEs.

Alexandra and Rebecca Morton, 16, from Harborne, took eight compulsory and three other subjects at King Edward VI High School for Girls, Edgbaston.

They found out the results after returning in the afternoon from a five-week World Challenge Expedition to the Galapagos Islands.

Both girls will be studying A levels at the fee-paying school from September.

Environmental issues

The compulsory GCSE subjects were English, English Literature, French, Latin, Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Alexandra also achieved A* in History, Russian and Art & Design and Rebecca matched her sister in Art & Design, Greek and History.

Now Alexandra is planning to take A levels in English, French, History, Maths and Further Maths with Rebecca set to study English, French, History and Classic Civilisation.

Their time in the islands involved helping to make minor improvements to a school and teaching children about environmental issues.

A further 17 pupils at the Edgbaston school achieved all A* grades in their exams.

A total of 77 girls sat 809 entries overall, with 89% achieving all A* and A grades and 97.7% grades A* to C.
