The £600m project to redevelop New Street Station is due to be completed by 2015

Birmingham's Pallasades Shopping Centre will be renamed when its redevelopment is completed in autumn 2014, Network Rail has announced.

The renamed Grand Central Birmingham complex will be part of a £600m revamp of the area around New Street railway station, due to be completed by 2015.

Work to transform the existing concourse is due to start next year.

The project is being funded by Birmingham City Council, the Department for Transport and Centro.

The new development in the city centre will include a 250,000 sq ft (23,000 sq m) John Lewis store on the site of the former Stevenson Tower, which was demolished last year.
