Small Heath mosque death: £10,000 reward offered
Police said the reward could encourage someone to come forward
A £10,000 reward is being offered for information over the murder of a man on his way home from a Birmingham mosque.
Mohammed Saleem was stabbed three times in the back in Green Lane, Small Heath, on 29 April.
Officers want to trace a man seen in CCTV footage running along Wyndcliffe Road near to where Mr Saleem was murdered.
Police said the reward could be the key to encourage someone to come forward.
The money, issued upon arrest and conviction for those responsible for the murder, has been offered by Crimestoppers.
'Time to act'Det Supt Mark Payne from West Midlands Police, who is leading the investigation, said: "We are very grateful for the calls we've had already. They have proved vital to our investigation.
"Our team are working around the clock as we piece together who has committed this crime. "
Mohammed Saleem, who went to the mosque five times a day, was stabbed just before 22:30 BST
He added: "There has been real support from the local community of Small Heath and we appreciate the help they have given our investigation so far.
"Our appeal is simple - someone out there knows who is on that CCTV image, they recognise their movement or their clothing.
"Maybe there are concerns about someone's behaviour since the murder? Now is the time to act."
The force has said they are puzzled by the motive for the attack saying there was no evidence Mr Saleem had been the victim of a robbery or a racist attack.
