The mother of a 16-year-old boy who was shot dead in Birmingham has paid tribute to a "pleasant young man who would easily put a smile on anyone's face".

Diego Henry was found with serious gunshot wounds at an address in Lighthorne Avenue, Ladywood, at about 12:30 GMT on 5 November.

He died in hospital two days later.

A 17-year-old boy who was arrested on suspicion of Diego's murder was released on police bail.

In a statement issued through police, his mother said: "Diego will be sadly missed by his mother, father, siblings and exceedingly large circle of family and friends."

She added: "Diego always expressed a passion for music and would be seen singing, dancing or rapping wherever he was.

"The circumstances surrounding Diego's death is shocking for all, but the family would like to extend their gratitude to everyone for their continuous support, prayers and well wishes."

Extra patrols have been put on in the area following the discovery of a second teenager's body on Friday

A post-mortem examination is due to take place on Monday to determine the cause of his death, West Midlands Police said.

A gun was found next to him at 10:30 GMT and the death is not being treated as suspicious, police said.

Although linked to the murder of Diego, the force has said it is not looking for anyone else in relation to the second teenager's death.

Det Supt Shaun Edwards said: "This is a complex investigation and a tragic set of circumstances. My sympathies truly remain with the families of both boys.

"We are pursuing several lines of enquiry, but we still ask that anyone who has information, and hasn't spoken to us, should contact us."

Police patrols have been increased in the area and anyone with information has been asked to contact the force.
