A man has been charged after a carjacking at a garage forecourt in Birmingham.

William Lewis, 39, is accused of assaulting a police officer and dangerous driving causing serious injury.

He is also charged with robbery and theft of a motor vehicle after the incident on Chester Road, Tyburn, on 10 November.

Mr Lewis, of no fixed address, appeared before magistrates on 16 December.

He is due at Birmingham Crown Court for a plea hearing on 15 January.
