West Yorkshire schools close after heavy snow

  • Published

Eleven schools in West Yorkshire have closed after parts of the region were affected by heavy snow and ice.

Police said conditions on some roads remained hazardous, and urged drivers to take care.

There were delays to train services between Leeds and London, and Leeds Bradford Airport closed for two hours on Monday morning due to heavy snow.

A spokesman said the airport had reopened, but the disruption had caused delays to some flights.

Temperatures plummeted overnight on Saturday to -14C at Topcliffe - Yorkshire's coldest November night since official records began.
