Bradford Live: Giant LED screen installed on former Odeon building
- Published
A "super-wide" LED screen measuring 32m (105ft) has been installed on the side of Bradford's new music venue.
The screen is on the side of Bradford Live, the art deco former Odeon building overlooking Centenary Square.
The 1930s building which once hosted The Beatles is undergoing a multi-million pound transformation.
The screen will be used as a video backdrop for the venue's live music events, which will form part of Bradford's City of Culture in 2025.
It will also be used to promote upcoming events at Bradford Live, which will include boxing, darts and other sports events as well as concerts.
Bradford 2025 will feature more than 1,000 cultural activities, ranging from live performances to pop-up experiences.
Bradford Live will be the centre for many of these events, with a capacity of 3,800.
Chris Morrell, Director of Bradford Live, said: "The screen has always been a key component of the project and we're delighted to be working with market-leaders ADI to deliver the vision of our architect, Tim Ronalds.
"When Bradford Live opens in 2024 it will attract 300,000 visitors to the city each year and we anticipate that the screen will become an attraction in its own right, initially serving as a focal point of Bradford's City of Culture celebrations in 2025."
The digital screen has been installed by ADI, which said it was a "unique canvas".
Drew Burrow from the company said: "Our long history of digitally transforming public realms with unique displays, content and services makes us the ideal partner to deliver this huge, transformative project."
Dan Bates, Executive Director of Bradford 2025, said the addition of the screen was "one more tantalising step towards Bradford 2025 and I can't wait for the venue to be fully opened, as it will play an important part in the year".
