Plans to convert a former Bradford working men's club into a church have been approved.

The Central Division Working Men's Club will become the new permanent home for The Redeemed Christian Church of God.

The church has held services in several different venues across the city since it opened in 2002 and has been based on nearby Nelson Street since 2010.

The application was originally refused due to "insufficient" detail but was approved at a meeting last week.

It is understood the venue on Clayton Lane has been closed for several years.

One person objected to the plans, saying the car park attached to the building was regularly used by residents living nearby, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

But planning officers said it was "private land" and should not be used by neighbouring residents without an agreement with the landowners.
