Thornbury library given £10,000 grant for makeover

A library is to receive a facelift with a £10,000 grant from South Gloucestershire Council.
The money for Thornbury library will be spent on internal decoration, new shelving and seating and provision of an IT learning suite.
The library will close on Monday 27 September for three weeks for the work to be carried out.
Books will be issued for a longer period than normal to cover the time while the library is closed.
Customers will also be given details of alternative libraries they can use.
Spending cuts
Councillor Heather Goddard said that the improvements had taken into account the tough public spending environment.
"For instance, much of the updated fittings and furniture could be transferred if the library eventually moves," she said.
The library will reopen on Monday 18 October.
