CCTV: Ambulance in emergency call attacked in Bristol

Police have released CCTV images after an ambulance was attacked while on an emergency call in Bristol.

The ambulance was transporting a girl who was reliant on a life-support machine, when a heavy object was thrown at it.

The incident happened at about midnight on 12 October on Queens Road in the Clifton area of the city.

Police are looking for a white man, in his late teens or early 20s, who was wearing a white shirt.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "The ambulance was using its lights and siren but despite this someone stood out in the road and threw something at the vehicle.

"The object has not been identified but from the impact it made and the damage caused to the windscreen it is believed to have been heavy."

PC Robert Corry said it was a "a shocking" and "reckless act".

"It could have caused a serious delay in the treatment of a very poorly child.

"It also put at risk the lives of patient and ambulance crew and the people in the street," he said.

"We have released CCTV footage of the attack in the hope that it will jog the memory of someone who was at the scene or prompt someone with information to come forward."
