Banksy's Dismaland memorabilia sells at auction for thousands

The seller "fell in love" with Dismaland, said auctioneer Andrew Stowe. "He went back three or four times collecting as much memorabilia as he could."

A private collection of Dismaland memorabilia has been sold at auction for more than £10,000.

The sale included brochures, art work and gift shop souvenirs collected by a man who "fell in love with Dismaland".

The "bemusement park" in Weston-super-Mare attracted thousands of visitors when it opened last summer.

Auctioneer Andrew Stowe said the sale in Bristol "massively exceeded expectations" and there had been "interest from across the world".

"It's a lovely collection... it's memorabilia for every pocket," he said.

'Gangsta rat' was sold for £2,000. "We don't know if it is a Banksy," said Mr Stowe, "but it is in the style of some of his more iconic art."

"My favourite item was this fab little bracelet," said Mr Stowe. "Everyone in the auction smiled when they saw it." It was the cheapest item sold raising £20.

"It was on top of a pile of similar size bits of cardboard," said the seller. "I noticed people picking them up and smiling as they walked off, so I did the same."

Sold as souvenirs this set of Darren Cullen ' beheaded queen ' 1st class stamps raised £85.

Described as having an "entertaining cover, with many takes on the famous Daily Express Cover" this Darren Cullen art work sold for £46.

The auction raised £10,190 and the seller has said he will donate part of the proceeds to a Bristol homeless charity.
