Search for driver after cyclist hurt in hit and run in Bristol

A cyclist has been taken to hospital after a crash in the early hours

Police said they were searching for a driver who left the scene of a crash which left a cyclist seriously hurt.

The cyclist "sustained serious, potentially life-threatening injuries" in a collision with a car just after 03:00 BST on St Luke's Road in Bristol, said Avon and Somerset Police.

"The driver failed to stop at the scene and inquiries to identify them are ongoing," the force added.

St Luke's Road is shut while investigation work continues.

The cyclist has been taken to hospital and officers said they had found a car matching the description of the one involved close to the scene.
