A shopping centre and multi-storey car park will remain closed for a third day because of a power outage.

The Galleries shopping centre in Bristol which is home to more than 70 stores and retailers has been closed to visitors since Monday morning.

A spokesperson said engineers remain on site working on fixing the outage.

"Repair works are still ongoing, thank you to our customers for their patience and understanding during this time," said David Wait, centre manager.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank our customers for their patience and understanding.

"We look forward to reopening as soon as we can."

The BBC understands the National Grid is not involved in fixing the power outage.

The Bristol Eye Hospital runs a non-urgent assessment clinic inside the shopping centre and more than 300 appointments have been cancelled or re-scheduled.

A University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust spokesperson said: "Due to a power cut at the shopping centre, The Bristol Eye Hospital Diagnostic Assessment Centre is currently closed.

"We are contacting affected patients directly to rearrange appointments."

The Galleries Car Park provides 1,000 parking spaces and will remain closed until the shopping centre reopens.
