A crash involving a bus and a lorry has closed a busy road.

The A37 Wells Road, in Knowle, Bristol, is closed in both directions at the junctions of Airport Rd, Broadwalk, Callington Rd and St Martin's Rd.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 04:45 GMT on Thursday. Both drivers were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The closure is likely to be in place for several hours for vehicle recovery.

Passengers of the bus were assessed by ambulance crews at the scene, while fire crews worked to free the lorry driver by about 06:40, Avon and Somerset Police said.

Motorists are being advised to use other routes.

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage of the incident.
