A man found with stab wounds on Boxing Day remains in a "critical but stable condition" in hospital, police said.
The man, in his 20s, was found on Bishop Road in Bristol with wounds described as potentially life-threatening.
Police say he had been out with friends and got separated from them, and was attacked by up to four people.
Members of the public said they saw a group of people "dressed in black" running away.
Police and ambulance crew were called to the scene at about 22:50 GMT on Tuesday and the man, who Avon and Somerset Police say is from the Fishponds area of the city, was taken to hospital.
