Thieves raided the Bikemaker on Christmas Day

The owner of a bike shop had to "leave his Christmas dinner" when he found out his shop had been raided.

The Bikemaker shop in the Old Market area of Bristol was broken into on 25 December and 10 bikes were stolen.

Russell Clifton-Hadley, who owns the shop, said "Christmas was over" when he found out.

"You go from anger to being upset to worrying, to thinking it's over," he told BBC Points West.

The community is now fund-raising to help Mr Clifton-Hadley keep the shop open.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "We were called shortly after 17:00 GMT on Monday to a report that entry had been forced to a business in West Street in the St Philip's area of Bristol."

The police added they are reviewing CCTV footage and asked anyone with information to come forward.

"This destroys your faith in human nature and makes you feel hopeless about things," Mr Clifton-Hadley said.

"It's all the support from the community, family and friends that brings back a bit of hope."
