Asda Salisbury plans for Hampton Park resubmitted
- Published
Plans for an Asda to be built on green space in Salisbury will be debated by councillors next week.
They include a petrol station and coffee drive-through near Hampton Park roundabout on London Road.
The plans are being re-submitted after they were turned down by Salisbury City Council 13 months ago.
A report found there would be a "significant adverse effect" on local birds, 11 of which were considered of "high conservation concern."
More than 70 people objected to the plans when they were first proposed, and 64 supported them.
Salisbury councillor Charles McGrath has called the plans to a committee over concerns about the environment and over-development, as well as noise and light pollution issues.
The council claims their previously raised concerns and suggestions had "not been addressed", including reduced opening hours, the installation of solar panels, and a lower speed limit on London Road.
They will be discussed at a public meeting at Trowbridge County Hall on Wednesday, 17 April.
