The force is sending humorous messages warning of shoplifting and vehicle thefts, several times a day marked as #xmascrimeprevention, external.
They include "Christmas elves don't help themselves" and "St Nick is the patron of Christmas, not shoplifting".
A spokesman said: "People view Twitter on their mobile phone, so our messages are reaching them at all times of day."
