About 60 firefighters are currently tackling a blaze at a recycling plant in Cambridgeshire.

About 15,000 tonnes of organic waste material is on fire in a unit at the AmeyCespa plant on Ely Road in Waterbeach.

The building has been safely evacuated and there is no danger to the public, the fire service said.

The company is the main waste contractor for Cambridgeshire County Council.

It is based on a 165 hectare (400 acres) site.

The fire took hold in an industrial recycling unit, a spokesman from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said.
