Seven hurt in Peterborough 'car cruising' crash

Seven people have been injured and a man arrested after a car hit a group of people in Peterborough.

About 300 people were at a "car cruising" event in Orton Southgate when the Mercedes went into the crowd.

Police said six men and a woman, aged between 17 and 31, were taken to hospital. Five were seriously hurt and two have since been discharged.

A 21-year-old man from Stamford, Lincolnshire, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

Car cruising usually involves people gathering to watch drivers racing vehicles and performing stunts.

Police said the five injured people who remain in hospital do not have life-threatening injuries.
