A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder over the disappearance of a factory worker from Lithuania.

Ricardas Puisys, 35, of Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, was last seen at Nightlayer Leek Company in Chatteris on 26 September.

Friends became concerned they had not seen or heard from him, but a police appeal in November failed to trace him.

A 31-year-old man from Wisbech was arrested earlier and is in custody, Cambridgeshire Police said.

Det Ch Insp Martin Brunning said: "While I remain hopeful that we will find Ricardas, due to the length of time he has been missing, coupled with the unexpected nature of his disappearance, we are now treating his disappearance as suspicious.

"If you have spoken to Ricardas since 26 September or know of his whereabouts, please contact us immediately.

"I am particularly keen to speak to those people from the Lithuanian community who would have worked with Ricardas at the Nightlayer Leek Company.

"I need to learn as much as I can about his lifestyle in Wisbech and also the people he would have spent time with, either through work or socially."
