US airman charged after police chase in Cambridgeshire

A US serviceman suspected of leading police on an early morning pursuit, leaving one of their cars damaged, has been charged with drinking and driving.

Andriu Oswaldo Ramos-Gimenez, 22, was arrested on the A1(M) near Sawtry, Cambridgeshire, at about 03:00 BST.

He has also been charged with failing to stop and using a mobile phone or device while driving.

Mr Ramos-Gimenez, of RAF Alconbury, is due to appear at Peterborough Magistrates' Court on 2 May.

The United States Air Force confirmed a United States Visiting Forces airman, assigned to a tenant unit on RAF Alconbury, was taken into custody on 14 April.
