A 14th Century bridge, which is classified as a scheduled ancient monument, has been damaged in a crash involving two cars.
The accident happened on Thursday evening on the medieval bridge that links Godmanchester with Huntingdon.
Cambridgeshire Police said two drivers who were released from their cars had sustained minor injuries.
Old Bridge was closed, but reopened on Friday after structural surveyors assessed the damage.
Graham Wilson, the Liberal Democrat county councillor for Godmanchester and Huntingdon South, posted an update on a Facebook group on Friday evening, saying: "Our officers inspected the bridge this morning.
"A temporary barrier has been installed to protect the damaged stonework and the bridge has reopened.
"As it is a scheduled ancient monument, work to repair The Old Bridge will require the consent of both Historic England and the Environment Agency.
"We aim to carry out permanent repairs by summer 2024."
He added that drivers should take care crossing the bridge and pedestrians should use the adjacent footbridge.
