Coastguards deal with more than a dozen emergencies

Sunny weather on the bank holiday led to a busy day for Cornwall's coastguard team with more than a dozen call outs.

In one incident a woman was flown to hospital by Cornwall Air Ambulance after hurting her back in a fall from cliffs at Treyarnon Bay near Padstow.

In another case an RNAS Culdrose helicopter was scrambled after a woman injured her leg falling on the coastal footpath between Sennen and Lands End.

Coastguards also helped a stroke victim at Portmeor Beach, St Ives.

They were also called out to Compass Point at Bude to rescue a person who got stuck climbing down a cliff in an attempt to rescue their seven-month old puppy which died after falling over the edge.
