Cornwall unemployment falls below 10,000

Unemployment in Cornwall is nearly 1% under the UK rate of 3.8%

The number of unemployed people in Cornwall fell below 10,000 in March, figures from the Office for National Statistics have revealed.

The total number of people out of work and claiming benefit in the county decreased to 9,646, down from 10,060 in February.

It represents 2.9% of the county's working population, down from 3.1%.

Unemployment in the county remains below the equivalent UK rate, which is currently standing at 3.8%.
