A suspended head teacher from the Isles of Scilly has met the audit team investigating claims of financial irregularities against him.

Bryce Wilby spent four hours presenting evidence which he said showed "a lot of the accusations have no connection to me".

Mr Wilby, who was suspended in May, met auditors at Cornwall Council premises in Wadebridge.

The auditors will report to the school governors and the council.

Porn 'stalemate'

An audit investigation closed in August without Mr Wilby giving evidence, but it was reopened after pressure from Isles of Scilly Council chairman Mike Hicks.

Mr Wilby said: "I think we've had a really good hearing. They have listened to what we've got to say and we've asked them lots of questions."

As well as the financial allegations, an interim report said pornographic images were found on his work computer, although none of them were illegal.

Mr Wilby said: "I don't know how they got there. They can't prove I put them there. I can't prove I didn't put them there.

"So you end up in a rather difficult stalemate position."

Mr Hicks has said that the auditors' report will be made public in an attempt to heal the rifts which were opened when Mr Wilby was suspended.
