A seven-year-old girl who died after collapsing at school was "popular and fun-loving," according to teachers.
The girl, named as Esmee Polmear, died at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro after collapsing at Perranporth School in Cornwall on Wednesday.
Alistair Johnson, the school's headteacher, said Esmee "touched the lives and hearts of all who knew her".
The circumstances of her death are not known but are not suspicious, Devon and Cornwall Police said.
'Terribly missed'
Mr Johnson said: "This is a terrible tragedy that has left the whole Perranporth School community shocked and devastated.
"Our thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of Esmee.
"She was a bright, popular and fun loving member of our school who touched the lives and hearts of all who knew her - she will be terribly missed."
The school sports day was due to be held on Thursday but was cancelled following Esmee's death.
