The funeral of a seven-year-old girl in Cornwall has been attended by family, friends and teachers dressed up as her favourite Disney characters.

Esmee Polmear died at the Royal Cornwall Hospital after collapsing at Perranporth School on 1 July, despite doctors telling her parents "not to worry" about her health.

Lynette and Mark Polmear said she had gone downhill over 18 months.

The family is awaiting the results of a second post-mortem examination.

Esmee's mother and father said, in the weeks leading up to her death, doctors at the St Agnes surgery told them she was "probably suffering from anxiety and panic attacks".

The surgery has declined to comment on the case.

Last month, school friends released hundreds of balloons in memory of Esmee and a fundraising site set up to raise money for a defibrillator for the school has so far raised nearly £7,500.

The funeral service, at St Pirin's Church, included a song from the Walt Disney film Frozen.
