A 77-year-old former teacher has denied sexually abusing a young boy.

Jeremy Dowling pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to eight counts of indecent assault and four counts of gross indecency with a boy under 14 in the 1970s.

Mr Dowling, also an ex-press officer for the Diocese of Truro, will stand trial in March 2016.

Mr Dowling's address was given as HMP Exeter and he appeared from there via video link.
