Bodmin murder trial: DNA found on knife 'matched alleged killer'

A knife found by police investigating a fatal stabbing outside a nightclub had DNA on it of a man accused of murder, a court heard.

Michael Riddiough-Allen died at the scene after the Eclipse club in Bodmin, Cornwall, closed on 30 April 2023.

DNA matching accused Jake Hill was found in blood stains on the handle of a knife, Truro Crown Court heard.

Mr Hill, 25, Tia Taylor, 22, and Chelsea Powell, 22, all from Bodmin, deny murder.

Forensic scientist Claire Morse also said rugby player Mr Riddiough-Allen's DNA had also been found in the serrated area of the knife's 17cm (7in) blade.

Mr Hill denies a total of 12 charges including murder, attempted murder and wounding with intent.

Ms Taylor denies three charges including murder, the alternative of manslaughter and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Ms Powell denies the same three charges as Ms Taylor.

The trial continues.
