The primary care hubs aim to ease pressure on GP surgeries

Eight primary care hubs have opened across Cornwall, offering on-the-day GP appointments.

The new service aims to ease demand on regular GP surgeries during the busy winter period, health bosses have said.

The hubs are located in Launceston, Bodmin, St Austell, Truro, Mount Hawke, Redruth, Helston, and St Ives.

NHS Cornwall said the new hubs were not a walk-in service and patients needed to have appointments made by their own GP surgery.

Dr Janine Glazier said: "The primary care hubs are a winter plan initiative to see patients a little bit quicker and also allow those patients with those really complex long term conditions to see their own GP and healthcare professionals on a more regular basis."
