Tunnelling work begins in Leamington Spa sewer scheme

Tunnelling work has started for a new sewerage system in a Warwickshire town as part of a £7.8m scheme.
Severn Trent Water said the project would reduce the risk of sewer flooding in Leamington Spa and improve the water quality of the River Leam.
Many of the Victorian sewers in the town were starting to struggle with demands being placed on them, it added.
The first phase of work was happening in Victoria Park and the scheme has been scheduled to end in spring 2012.
A public exhibition would be held in the town early next year, Severn Trent Water said.
