A stretch of the M42 will close overnight in order for a series of viaducts to be built for the HS2 line

Drivers are being warned to expect travel disruption due to a series of overnight motorway closures.

The M42 southbound at junction 8 to the M6 northbound at junction 4a near Water Orton will be shut every weekday between 21:00GMT and 05:00 from Wednesday.

The closures are so viaducts being built to carry the new HS2 line over the carriageway can be put in place.

Diversions will be in place until the closures are lifted on 2 February.

The work will link the high speed rail line to the proposed new Interchange Station and Curzon Street Station, National Highways has said.
