Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team helped by email photo

An email sent via a mobile phone helped rescue volunteers locate a walker stranded on a Lake District Fell.

The Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was alerted on Friday afternoon after the woman became lost in mist between Howtown and Patterdale.

In a bid to narrow down the search area, she was asked to send a photograph of her surrounds to the rescue team from her BlackBerry.

She was found safe and well at the head of Boredale and escorted off the fell.
