Cumbrian walkers warned about illegal snares

People in Cumbria are being warned by police to watch out for illegally placed snares when walking their dogs.

The plastic green-coated snares, which are believed to be homemade, were discovered on a section of land at Derwent Howe, Workington.

Cumbria County Council, which owns the land, had not given permission for the placement of the snares - a legal requirement.

Cumbria Constabulary's PC John Shaw said the snares were a "great concern".
