Volunteers are being sought to help give the largest natural lake in England a spring clean.

The annual "Winderclean" operation, on the islands and shoreline of Windermere, takes place on Saturday in advance the holiday season.

Gatherings will take place in Bowness, Windermere and Ambleside.

The kit needed collect litter will be provided. If enough people turn up, the cleanup could also cover Rydal, Grasmere, Langdales, and Troutbeck.

Steve Tatlock, ranger with the Lake District National Park Authority, said: "Windermere is such a stunning and popular lake and if we all work together we can ensure that the lake area continues to look its best for the millions of visitors and local residents."
