Speed limit aims to improve Cumbria village safety
- Published
New speed restrictions have been put in place in a south Cumbria village.
Motorists travelling through Newby Bridge on the A590 are now subject to a permanent 40mph limit, down from 60mph.
The move, aimed at improving safety on the busy route, comes as part of an over all review of the road by the Highways Agency.
It has also placed a 50mph restriction around Newlands, for an initial period of 18 months, running from Ulverston to the Arrad Foot dual carriageway.
