Planning permission has been granted for the next stage of redevelopment at the University of Cumbria's Ambleside campus.

The Lake District National Park Authority has approved modifications to the Scale How building and Percival lecture theatre.

Mike Berry, director of estates, said progress could now be made on the "long-term vision" of the university.

Up to 500 students will study on the campus by September 2014.
