Grange-over-Sands lido consultation gets 'good response'

A consultation on the future of a Grade II-listed lido in Cumbria has had a "fantastic response", a council has said.

Land around the derelict saltwater swimming pool at Grange-over-Sands is being redeveloped.

South Lakeland District Council has applied for Heritage Lottery funding.

Councillor Tom Harvey said the lido was a "real asset" to the town and urged people to have their say on how it should be used.

The consultation closes on 1 September.

The lido, which closed in the 1990s, came close to being demolished under previous building plans before a public campaign led it to being listed.

Mr Harvey said: "I'm sure there are still people who have their own thoughts on what should be done with it but haven't got round to saying what they are."
