A climber was airlifted to hospital after falling almost 200ft (61m) in the Lake District.

The 23-year-old, who has not been named, landed on a narrow ledge on Grassmoor Front, near Crummock, on Sunday afternoon.

Volunteers from Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team used ropes to reach him.

The man was then taken to Carlisle's Cumberland Infirmary by a helicopter from RAF Boulmer for treatment to non life-threatening injuries.
