Sonny Gibson's body was found in the tumble dryer at his home in Ashbourne

A woman arrested after her son was found dead in a tumble dryer will face no further action, police have said.

The body of four-year-old Sonny Gibson was found after he went missing while playing with his family at home in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, on 26 July.

In August Anne Gibson was arrested in connection with the care of Sonny, but not his death.

A Derbyshire police spokesman said they made the decision after advice from the Crown Prosecution Service.

Sonny was reported missing from the garden of the house on Northcliffe Road and a full search, including the police helicopter, was started.

He was found about 50 minutes later by his mother and a police officer.

A full inquest into Sonny's death has yet to be held.
