Campaigners fear the cuts will hit the most vulnerable

Derbyshire County Council's cabinet has approved £33m of cuts to next year's budget.

If agreed by the rest of the council next week, the changes would see large savings in youth services and care for the elderly, and shorter library hours.

The cabinet has also agreed to change adult care eligibility and to introduce charging for some services.

Carers angry at the plans protested outside County Hall in Matlock, saying the most vulnerable would lose out.

The budget will be considered at a full council meeting on 2 February.
