Jamie Dawson absconded on his first day at HMP Sudbury

A 30-year-old Nottinghamshire man who absconded from a Derbyshire open prison on his first day has been detained by police.

Jamie Dawson, from Hucknall, absconded from HMP Sudbury on Thursday after being transferred from HMP Nottingham.

Dawson was sentenced in July 2008 at Nottingham Crown Court to four years in prison for burglary.

A Derbyshire Police spokesperson said Dawson was arrested in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
