The lay-by is used by walkers and dog owners and police have appealed to them for information
Post-mortem tests on a badly burned body found in a lay-by near the Peak District have revealed the victim was a white male.
Officers said the body was probably dumped some time between 21:00 BST and midnight on Sunday, just off the A628 at Tintwistle, near Glossop.
A member of the public discovered the remains the following day.
Detectives, who are still trying to identify the man, said a fire was started at the scene.
A murder investigation has begun and the force has asked for anyone who may have seen anything unusual in the area to get in touch.
People who regularly travel along the A628 between Tintwistle and the Flounch roundabout have also been asked to register their vehicles so they can be eliminated from the inquiry.
