Hilton police pursuit death: Victim named as Barrie Arkesden

IPCC investigators were sent to the scene after being informed of the death by Derbyshire Police

A 75-year-old man who was killed when he was hit by a car pursued by police has been named.

Barrie Arkesden died in Main Street, Hilton, Derbyshire, on 11 April.

Matthew Luke Hogg, 24, from Melville Court, Etwall, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving and is due to appear at Derby Crown Court in May.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said it was investigating the "tragic incident".

The police watchdog said the investigation will examine what happened before the crash to determine whether the police followed appropriate policies and procedures.

Mr Arkesden was from Hilton.
