Ilkeston pensioner death: Man charged with manslaughter

A man has been charged with manslaughter after a pensioner died following an alleged altercation.

Derek Levers, 86, collapsed at his address after the reported row in Station Road, Ilkeston, Derbyshire, on Sunday and later died in hospital.

Ryan Belfon, 31, of Stapleton Road, Ilkeston, is also accused of criminal damage, assaulting a police officer and fraud offences, Derbyshire Police said.

He appeared at court on Thursday and has been remanded in custody.

He will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 15 June.
